This weekly report gives a detailed picture of how POW labour was organised at camp 108 in Thirkleby, North Yorkshire. It covers the week from Monday 27th August to Saturday 1st September 1945.
On a typical day, the camp provided about 600 labourers. The vast majority of these – about 500 – worked on private farms. Others were allocated to War Agriculture Executive Commmittee land and drainage work, and to drainage work for other authorities. Labourers could also be sent to work in other counties, but this did not happen on that particular week.
The lower half of the form lists the total number of hours worked each day. The total for the last day is noticeably less than for the others since work finished at noon on Saturdays.
