This is a typical identity card issued to civilians during (and after) the Second World War. It had to be carried at all times and was to be produced when requested by a police officer or a member of the armed services or Home Guard when on duty.
Details on an identity card included the holders registration number, name, class code, address, signature and any changes of address. Space was provided for an official stamp on the right.
