ARP Warden’s badge
Civil Defence
This badge would have been worn by an Air Raid Warden (the initials A.R.P. stand for Air Raid Precautions). A tab on the back enabled it to be fastened to the lapel buttonhole on the Warden’s uniform. Made of silver, the badge would originally have had a bright appearance, but over the years has tarnished to a near-black colour.
