Your collection on display

Do you have an unusual collection that you wish could be appreciated by a wider audience? Thirsk Museum can help.

We offer private individuals the chance to create their own temporary display alongside our permanent exhibits. Part of the area reserved for this is by the ground floor window, so your collection can be seen by passers-by as well as Museum visitors.

The theme for your display doesn’t have to be connected with Thirsk. Subjects in recent years have included:

  • Freemasons’ regalia and memorabilia
  • A collection of Torquay Mottoware pottery
  • Royal memorabilia from Queen Victoria’s coronation to the present day
  • A collection of ships in bottles
  • A collection of novelty playing cards
  • Artefacts from an archaeological excavation of a 1940s council rubbish tip
  • A display of flower vases from the 1930s

If you have a collection which you would like to be displayed in the Museum, please contact us and we’ll be happy to discuss it.

Thirsk Museum is fully insured and we take all reasonable measures to ensure the security of exhibits. However, please note that the premises may not be suitable for exceptionally valuable items.
