Thirsk Museum occupies the house where Thomas Lord, the founder of Lord’s Cricket Ground, was born in 1755. There are eight rooms full of exhibits, featuring local life and industry, cricketing memorabilia, farming equipment, furniture, costumes and toys. Marvel at the bones of our Saxon Giant and shudder at the legend of the Busby Stoop Chair!

We also provide a wide range of services, particularly for schools. Our Museum Society organises illustrated talks about local history which everyone is welcome to attend.

Thirsk Museum is in Kirkgate, just across the road from The World of James Herriot. We are open to the public from Easter to the end of October. Come and see what Thirsk Museum has to offer.
