Buried in the soil after apparently being discarded, this wartime YMCA mug was found in the grounds of Thirsk racecourse. The Young Mens Christian Association, like many civilian organisations, provided assistance to members of the armed forces during the war.
The underside of the mug identifies the manufacturer as Dunn Bennett & Co. Ltd of Burslem, England.
